High heels, chairs, and cabinets are famous for tearing and piercing good vinyl floors. But if you’ve experienced this firsthand you don’t need to just live with a damaged vinyl floor and you don’t have to replace the whole thing either. Call the flooring experts at DC Floors for fast, professional vinyl flooring repair, on-demand.
Life Happens
Vinyl floors are fantastic solutions for high use, high moisture areas like entryways, bathrooms, and kitchens, and they can last for years under heavy use. But there are occasions where vinyl floors can break down or suffer damage, and when that happens professional help can quickly and easily get your floor looking good as new. Whether you have a small puncture from sharp high heels or a larger rip or tear from wooden chair legs will affect the type of vinyl flooring repair required and the amount of time, energy, and cost involved.
Fixing Spot Damage
Small cuts and scratches in vinyl floors look bad and can hook other objects, making the tear worse over time. Fortunately these small rips can be permanently closed with a liquid seam sealer, a clear compound that our flooring professionals can apply in one quick visit. We’ll make sure the area is clean and then apply the sealer, making sure that the edges of the tear are in the right position. Once the seal is dry, you’ll hardly be able to notice the damage was ever there.
Fixing Moderate Damage
For larger tears or burns, repairing vinyl flooring with a simple sealant may not be an option to adequately disguise the damage and protect the layers below. Instead, our team may suggest a replacement patch. Using a spare section of flooring or a similar piece from our stock, our team will cut a patch into shape and fit it into the space left by the old area of damage, using industry-grade sealants and adhesives to close the seams. The result, when done correctly, is usually nearly undetectable and much more affordable than a brand new floor.
Replacing Major Damage
For major burns, stains, or tears that affect one or more whole vinyl sections a more significant amount of the floor will need to be replaced. However, if the materials are on-hand the actual process is even easier than creating a replacement patch. Our team will use an electric heat gun to warm the damaged tile and loosen up the adhesive beneath so that we can pry it away. Once the old, broken tile is out of the way, a new section can be installed in its place. Once the new tile sets (usually 24 hours) your floor will be good as new!
